Semester One – 2012
Bronwyn. Online client. One of her first squats. She is currently in Week 10 of her training. Now can back-squat 35k x 5 reps.
Elizabeth. Everyone knows Elizabeth. Remember, she had a bulging disc, 12 months ago. We fixed her posture (she is a cellist) and alignment to ensure proper movement.
Ann Mac. Not sure where her strength came from on the last week of our 1RM tests. But she managed an easy 80k deadlift. Remember this woman could not do shoulder mobility. Do you know how much those mobility and stability is required to lift 80k off the floor from the shoulders? Yeah. Plenty!
Ariana. Found my voucher on a coupon web-site. Will be continuing on. She has lost more weight in 2 weeks then she has doing Weight Watchers for 3 years.
Jacqui. The nicest lady. Lives out past Esk somewhere. Comes in on Friday and Monday. Staying in Brisbane over the weekend
Jess. You may recognise Jess. She works up at Puss n Boots. Joined Curves and hated it. Waste of money. Easily pulled 80k off the ground in her 4th week!
Karen. Is so close to a body-weight chin-up. Has been with me for about 4 months. She is losing weight (watching what you eat helps) and becoming very strong.
Mary-anne. An osteoporosis research client. Please visit my other site exerciseforbetterbones.com to find out more.
Mary-Lou. One funny lady. Plus strong as an Ox. Keeps us all very much entertained. The 40 minutes seems like 5 when she is around.
Michelle. Back-squatting. Has been with me over a year now. No more ITB syndrome. Although she still has the tightest hamstrings on the planet due to her running.
Rita shows off her bicep. Remember, we never do bicep curls here. EVER. Waste of time. Correct movement will build, condition and work all muscles.
2011
No rest for the wicked. Sometimes instead of resting, I’ll get you doing wall squats before squatting. Not all the time, but sometimes.
Rita. Our whippet. She brings her little dog Phoebe every training session. We attach a 16k kettlebell to the dog so she can’t go anywhere. We are still learning to say hello first to Rita instead of Phoebe.
Karen. Scottish. Can hardly understand a word she says. But she puts in a 100% effort every time she is here. Was a gym goer. You know that horrible gym around the corner called Good Life. Another one who wasted 3 years and $3000.
Mary-anne. Post menopausal training. Power movements. Jumping off boxes does wonderful things to our bone density. Did we do this the first week. No. Over 4-6 weeks we strengthened the ankle, knee and hip joints and all their connective tissues.
Debbie. Squat. Post-menopausal lady. Has moved back down to Geelong, so we will miss her. I have her joining Geelong’s weightlifting Club. No gyms for this lady anymore!
Debbie. Press. Strong lady. Increased her hip and lumbar spine sites. Lost weight and put on muscle.
Ally. Every gym needs a dog and we have three. The girls turned around to do their lunges down the “lunge runway” after some heavy squats, as Ally decided to do some sun-salutes.
Rita. Overhead squat. A tough movement. Needs a lot of length in lats and back-extensors to do it properly.
Liz. Inverted. Showing my favourite variant for the vertical press movement. We do 2 hand-stand pushups. And then run over and do 4 heavy presses. Ever seen this done anywhere else. I doubt it.
Michelle. Funny lady. Rarely remembers to turn up as she has slept in. We give her heaps when she gets here. Strong, committed lady though when she is here.
Siobhan. I asked Siobhan to hinge from the hip. This is typical. Round back. Her brain as forgotten this very important pattern.
Siobhan. I reach in for my bag of tricks. I ask Siobhan to put her thumb in her xiphoid process and her pinky on her belly button. Now hinge from the hip without this space closing or getting wider. Easy. Spine stays neutral.
Carol. At the end of 8 weeks, Carol is dead-lifting far more then her body-weight. This is an 80k bar.
Mary-anne. Here too she is deadlifting her body-weight 8 weeks on. You can not do this ladies, with tight hamstrings, weak core and a crap back.
Mary-anne. I took a photo for her. I have a white-board with everyone’s name on it and their weights.
