Since training with Lisa my balance, strength, stamina and confidence have improved out of sight. She creates a warm friendly environment where women can make genuine changes for their health and wellbeing. –Monica, 50-something

Lisa is a great motivator and coach. She encourages me to strive to improve balance, co-ordination and strength – the keys to keeping my body healthy and active. I never thought I could be so strong – and getting stronger!–Willy, 57.

Oh boy, haven’t I been sold a whole load of crap over the years. 3 sets of 10-12 reps is today’s dogma for women’s health and fitness crowd. As Lisa so rightly points out – have you ever seen in women’s magazine 2 sets of 3-5 reps of an exercise. Have you ever seen a woman deadlift her own body-weight, hold more then 10k above her head, do a pull-up, train like an athlete. I never thought it was actually important or even possible. I now look at women’s health and fitness magazines with fresh eyes and realise that the glossy pictures and different exercises have absolutely no plan or real focus on what women should be honouring. Lisa makes no mistake on what we should be honouring when training with her. Partial reps are for gyms and boot-camps. But in her studio – ability and full range of movement far outweighs aesthetics and appearance. Within 30 seconds of tutelage of how to perform a full body-weight squat, for the first time in my life, I was able to sit down with my hips nearly touching the floor. She may not know it, but I had a tear in my eye. This was profound for me, because for years I had been told by many Personal Trainers that I didn’t have the strength or flexibility to do a squat. Lisa rattled off something about biomechanics such as centre of mass, hip and positional alignment and engaging certain muscles. She knows the woman’s body and mind inside out. Sometimes she can even guess what stage of your menstrual cycle you are in just by the way you walk into her studio. She honours the woman’s cycle and gives you other exercises or stretches to perform when we just really want to be on the couch instead of resistance training. But by god, if she knows you are in your strength-zone, there is no holding back, the weights just keep being piled onto that bar, and you wonder if she will ever stop adding that weight.–Colleen, 40-something

I rang Lisa and told her I had not exercised ever. Never seen the inside of a gym, never picked up a weight. So I was curious about her research program about learning to do the derivative Olympic lifts, her hypothesis on reducing thigh girth and the menstrual cycle. Is she kidding, everyone knows you get huge thighs if you lift heavy. I turned up half expecting to see a 95k woman, but was rather surprised to see this fit and athletic woman.  She certainly is a testament to lifting heavy or training like an athlete and looking like one. She assured me that regardless of your fitness level, that the three basic movements such as the deadlift, squat and press are all movements within my reach. On the inside I was laughing, as doing a squat as deep as she was going – I knew it was never going to happen. This wasn’t just any old squat, this was a full-blooded get your arse below your knees type of squat. To my surprise at the end of 12 weeks, I lost 8k, 5% body-fat and who would’ve believed my girth measurements also decreased. My squat? I can back-squat 32.5k and front-squat 20k. But strength training for me was just not about strength like it was for some other ladies, but a way to gain confidence and lose weight. Even though it was a 12 week program, I’m not prepared to give up Lisa just quite yet, so I still enjoy 2 sessions a week with her. I never stop learning, and she never stops adding weight!–Crystal, 20-something

The education about my body and learning the true technique of classical Olympic weight-lifting was worth more to me then the $50 a week cost. Because I travel a lot, I now know I can walk into any gym in the world, grab a set of racks and free-weights do no more then 40 reps, and know full well that I have got more benefits out of doing that, than any other woman in that gym. I highly recommend this program to women who have a curiosity on just how much load you can move, patience and a strong will to succeed. Lisa is right, we don’t need balls or a huge amount of testosterone to lift heavy – you just need to be shown how to do it correctly. Adding weight is the easy part, its the art and science behind the movement that is the hardest. She’s been classically trained and educated and this oozes out every pore of her body.–Michelle, 40-something

After baby number 2, my core strength was zero and I was seriously lacking motivation to get back into training. I set myself a goal to run a marathon at the end of the year but getting on the road was frustrating as I felt no improvement. Lisa's training group was the catalyst I needed and just a few months on I am stronger, more energised and pounding the pavement is no longer a chore. I am well on my way to reaching my goal thanks to Lisa and her refreshing, no nonsense approach to exercise and nutrition. –Chantelle, 30-something

I live in New York City and was looking for a weight training coach to train me at home. As a massage therapist, I often work repetitively in the same planes of movement, and was looking to gain strength and move in 3 dimensional planes. Training with Lisa over skype is the perfect set up for me and my schedule. I'm able to take what I had learned through our skype sessions to the gym, and feel confident that I'm lifting correctly. Lisa communicates her expert knowledge of anatomy and movement effortlessly and comedically. I can't believe that she's on the other side of the world and correcting my moves! Thank you Lisa for opening up my mind to the wonders of skype, improving my flexibility and stability, and giving me the confidence to lift weights at the gym with ease! I always look forward to our sessions! –Emma, 30-something

Like most women who are frustrated at seeing 20 year old skeletons cladded out Lorna Jane gear advocating protein-bars and shakes, the modern idea of body-building training has always struck me as something that is just not quite right. Wow! I’m so glad I discovered Lisa as I wanted strength and conditioning without the use of machines or 2k dumb-bells. I have never seen a woman Personal Trainer do one-legged squats with ease or weighted chin-ups and I have been going to the gym most of my life. Lisa gave me everything I required and more.–Jeanette, 30-something

I immensely enjoy Lisa’s sessions. She teaches me something new about myself and about how to lift weight safely every week. She is confident, safe, competent and efficient, but most of all at my age I wanted to have benefits that can be transferred over into my normal life. She has increased my movement and decreased my lower back pain (I had an L5 and L4 disc replacement), enough so I can comfortably play not 1 but at least 2 games of golf per week. Something that is very important to me. The strength and the confidence that I have gained when I lifted by own bodyweight at the age of 43 is something that I would never have dreamt of – nor thought it was that important or necessary. How wrong I was. She has educated me that it not only requires strength, but mobility, flexibility, balance a full range of motion from my own body to achieve such a feat. –Karen, 40-something

After a slipped disc in February last year - I didn't want to do anything in case  I set my back off again - I had a physchological weakness as well. I started working with Lisa - because I knew I had to build my strength. I cannot believe the difference, by the end of the 12 week course I was deadlifting 75k and doing core work I never thought imaginable.  The training is clearly explained and it all makes sense. My back is amazing - I no longer have that fear of hurting it - I feel stronger then ever before. My body posture has improved along with my core and I definitely have a lot more energy and feel like the battery is charged. I did 2 x 45 minute sessions with Lisa a week.  She encourages to improve just 1% every week and watch the magic of compound interest in terms of strength unfold. Lisa's training wasn't about becoming a super-model it was about ensuring strength, health and mobility for my future. Editors Note:  As at 15 October 2011, Elizabeth can now deadlift 85k! –Elizabeth, 40-something
